does anyone have this prob. with the revs?

When I start to rev, the engine hesitates for a minute and then quickly gets up to the rev. it is supposed to be at...I can put the accelerator to the floor and back up really quickly (in neutral, obviously) and the needle + engine noise will not change. Anyone else had this?

I'm not really sure what you are asking.... putting the accelerator down and waiting for the engine to kick in?...

yeah, say i was sitting in neutral (anywhere - road, driveway, wherever) and you press the accelerator pedal down slightly (enough to get the revs up on most cars), the engine doesn't rev as soon as the pedal is pushed, it hesitates and then gets to the revs it is supposed to get to according to the pedal position.
like this:-

Push the pedal down--->wait for a second--->engine suddenly gets the revs up quickly.

is this a bit clearer?

P.S. I am bad at explaining things like this (I.E. typing, not talking)

Yes it is. I was confused about you going in reverse etc (from the 1st post). Ummm.... I don't think my engine does that, but I'll check today.

No my Lanos SE does that too it is very anoying so before I take off I always rev first then go so it will take of quicker

I wonder what is causeing this hesitation I have done a tune up and wires ??

how can you tell what type you have....i have gone all over my lanos and i cant tell what type it is

actualy thats normal...
1. the electronic crap on the thorttle body and such will cuase a delay to lets say a old carb engine.
2.lanos SE is a 8v engine isnt it? 8v picks up slower then a 16v

but stil if the delay is very small... they do tend to have that... peronaly i would remove all the electronics and use a carb if i could lol

my optra does the same thing (optra aka forenza / nubira)

even if odd, i found that on higth octane gaz, it make it more after the 90km/h, like the waiting to bypass another car (from 110km/h to 140km/h in example) than on normal octane gaz, else i always get that waiting state

i kinda put the fault on the restrictive air box, wich i will try to remove with a cai, but im not sure at all
