Optima yellow top batterys keeping dying on me

....why? Arent they better than regular batterys because they dont dye? This is the 2nd yellow top and third battery I've been through in less than a year. If I recall right both my yellow tops died when my car was sitting. Anyways this last time I jump started the car and the radio didnt even have enough juice to turn on for 10mins. I had the car running for about 40mins and turned it off and it wouldnt even crank again.

It sucks cuz I couldnt get warranty on the first yellow top cuz I misplaced my receits and I didnt fill out my warranty card with this one yet. Hopfully I can fill it out, then get a new one asap.

try a red top.

if it still gives you trouble there are other companies that do the same type of sealed batteries

you might have a short in the electrical system. i never had a problem with my yellow top

And I have never had a problem with my 30 dollar (usd) non-sealed Wal-Mart (group 24?) battery.

I also think you may very well have other electrical issues.

I've been using a red top with very good success in my former Optra... I will be removing it and installing it in one of my other cars as soon as my friend gets back from her holidays.

For other cars I've allways trusted the Energizer brand.... great price at Walmart and great warranty (if your car falls within their listing )

Yeah, works for me.
I have them in all my vehicle's, except motorcycles. They get the expensive sealed ones.
I've had very good service life with these battery's. They last for at least 3~4 years. Than recycle the old one and buy a new one.
Have never ever had to warranty one back. I buy them by the physical size (group #) and also the cold cranking amps that the original (factory) battery had.
As far Wal-Mart listing them ? Besides a microwave ? I doubt if they know what a Daewoo is

I need a sealed battery and a good one...I'm running almost 4k watts for my sound system with an u/d pulley. Also it needs to be sealed for when I finally get to relocating it.

I haven't have any other problems or signs of an electrcial problem. I'll check again...but still what kind of electrical problem would cause this?

A underdrive pulley can keep the alternator from turning fast enough to keep a battery at full charge. Especially when your just going from stop light to stop light.
If your relocating your battery to the trunk be sure to use very thick (gauge) wires as voltage drop will occur the longer the run is.
Between the UD pulley and your sound system and lights etc.. you may be drawing more juice than you can create.

Get a digital muliti meter, set it to 20vdc and put it across the battery posts and read it with the engine running and all your stuff turned on (lights, sound..etc) you need to see (at least) over 13.5 VDC going into the battery at a fast idle.

I'm pretty sure my alternator isn't putting out enough...but I dont really care. It hasn't caused any problems yet and the battery dying problem only happens when the cars sitting for along time.

check and see if your amps turn off when you shut the car off, if not, thats the problem

Well...

My sub one does. The other ones stuffed under the car seat...I know last time I messed with it it still turned off with the car off but I'd have to check again to be sure.
