What’s Interchangeable? Headers, intake manis, cat-backs, ec
First off I posted this here as it's more general info and nothing too specific. I've always had a hard time understanding all the interchangeabilities between cars. I'm having tons of stuff made up for the forenza/reno and would like to expand a bit. For now I just need to know which headers, intake manifolds, and cat-backs are the same between cars and engines and if they aren’t the same what the difference is. For example, I think the forenza headers fit the leganza except they don’t clear the oil pan? That'd be an easy one to make up since we already have the forenza headers. If headers will fit the aveo and lanos then that'd be another one worth doing. In about a month I will need to know about allot more parts but can't get into that yet as I'm trying to keep some things undercover until they're out.
Thanks!
Thanks!

2.0 & 2.2 "R90" MOTORS FROM THE US ONLY
2.0 & 2.2 "R90" MOTORS FROM THE US ONLY. i'm not sure on application around the world.
DOHC HEADS: Isuzu Rodeo/ Amigo, Suzuki Forenza/ Reno, Daewoo Legonza/ Nubira
2.0 DOHC SHORT BLOCK: Suzuki Forenza/ Reno, Daewoo Nubira
2.2 DOHC SHORT BLOCK: Isuzu Rodeo/ Amigo, Daewoo Legonza. this goes beond the crack, the blocks have slight differeces. for examle the bolt holes to mount the oil pan are bigger in the 2.2 and the 2.2 use a main support that can't even be added to the 2.0 because the mounting hole arn't there. there is one difference in that the Isuzu 2.2 uses a shorter block height for a slightly higher compression ratio then the Daewoo 2.2.
CRANK and RODS: they are size specific, all the 2.0 SOHC andDOHC are the same. yes you can add the crank pickups from the DOHC's to the older SOHC's
PISTONS: they can be interchanged between all the "R90" motors with slight compression differesces. to put SOHC pistons to a DOHC you will need to add valve pockets.
OIL PAN AND PICKUPS: they are size specific also. 2.0's pick up in the back of the motor and 2.2's pick up the front and i would suggest keeping it that way. keep the pan style that came on the block the same.
TB's: the 2.2 uses a bigger TB then the 2.0 or the smaller Euro versions.
WIRING AND IGNITION: they should all be the same.
CLUTCH and FLYWHEEL: all of the "R90" motors use the same bolt pattern so in a sence they are all interchangeable, but the Pontiac LeMans SOHC uses a smaller diameter setup which is nice for circuit track racing.
GASKETS: all the 2.0 DOHC's use the same "complete" gasket kit and the same for the 2.2 (pan gaskets are different) but the 2.0 and 2.2 use the same top end gasket set the COMETIC MLS head gaskets are basicaly the same from the older Euro DOHC's but they need simply mods.
ARP PARTS: all of the parts ARP offers for the old Euro DOHC's are the same as the newer DOHC's accept for the main studs on the 2.2's, you'll have to order mains studs for a VW. i've posted the part # in the perfomance parts forum (VW p.n. 204-5402 ) http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8478
one differnce between the 2.2 in the Isuzu and the other 2.0/2.2's in the Daewoo and Suzuki is that the Isuzu uses the timing pullies, timing and spark plug cover from the opel's, holden's and vauuxhall's that don't have the motor mounts through the timing ccver or the "D-TECH" ignition cover
hopefully this helps

One question though...are you sure the 2.2 from the leganza uses a bigger TB than the forenza/renos 2.0? If so will the leganza TB bolt onto the forenza? I thought I remember asking this question and being told the 2.2 wasnt bigger or wouldnt fit. If so this is great! theres one for sale near my house for $90.

Ahh, my TB doesnt have that for some reason.gse_turbo wrote:just to be 100%if you look down you TB you should see that the the openning isn't a perfect circle and is slightly ubstructed. the leganza is a prefect circle and will bolt directly because all of the 2.0 and 2.2 DOHC's in the states use the same intake manifold.

So the leganza TB is the same size...? Are there any TBs that'll fit that are bigger?

if you can post a pic of yours with a inside measurement and ill do the same with the leganza. my be suzuki went with bigger one which would be a supprise but good info.
the 2.2 is the biggest i've seen but that's not to say there isn't a bigger one for the C20XEV out there.
i've looked into the supposed 2.4 XEV type motor but haven't found one yet. if there is such a motor then it might have a bigger TB but you could be waisting your time looking for it.
