Re: Hey
I have been all thru this as well, about 3 years ago when I first built my hybrid "T20-GET". I was thinking of building a 2.2 turbo, but the block is missing two bolt holes needed for the right rear engine mount in the US Sunbird/Grand Am. I still plan to build a 2.2L with an LET head and XE cams. Perhaps that'll be next.Deathwind wrote:There are no difference between 2.2L head and 2.0L head.
I can assure you that in Parts catalogue both have same part number.
And the piston makes the change of the combustion chamber volume.
Pistons' top look different.
So when you use 2.2L piston on 2.0L engine you get about 8.6:1~8.8:1.
Which is nice for low boost turbo.
Anyway, the 2.2 deck is just under 3/8" taller, as measured with a tape measure. 3/8" is .375", 9mm is .354". I'd go with the 9mm. The pistons are exactly the same pin height.
