crankshaft knife-edging
does this hurt the car in anyway here is the link thank you http://www.importperformanceparts.net/i ... dging.html
2.0 engine swap in the works
i am not a super car tuner or so but i don't think this is really relevant... it is kinda like shaving your beard before racing to reduce weight.
OK the splashes could be subistantioal at some point but that won't be at low revs... so unless you are revving it like crazy this won't do you any good.
also those weights are for balancing the weights of the pistons and rods, reducing that weight could disturb the crank balance and since you have done that then you are probably going to rev it like hell and thats were balancing becomes very critical... you could break your crank if you got wrong balance.
if you want less weight on the crank then get an UD crank pully and/or lighter flywheel... if you want performance then save your money and throw out anything that is adding exta weight for no good reason.
please correct me if i am wrong.

ya, is those weights were different than the pistons and rods weights then it cant ever be balanced, and then u will crack it easially, but those knife-edged crankshafts are only helpful and better performance if those weights were exactly the same as pistons and rods, but then the knife-edges would pass easier in the oil which saves some loads in the engine and makes u reviving faster, but i think all of that is just a little more performance, so u better save your money or just do that swap only if u got a broken crankshaft and u want to change it.

knife edging is a great way to drop rotating mass. YOU NEED TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL SHOP! ...because the complete job needs to be done.
it would need to be balanced after and your con-rods and pistons would need balancing also.
the major abvantage is that you get into high rpm's faster, which is great for boosted motors
