If i had VW rims on my daewoo, and the centers were bigger then the hub, would that throw the balance off?

"i think its cause of my studs because vw are rounded and the ones i have are tapered"
Not studs but bolts and it would not be safe to use the tapered bolts on the round holes at all.
As the bolts must fit perfectly into the holes of the wheel.

Also ? Any aftermarket wheels that are installed on a Daewoo must have hub-rings or you will forever have wheel vibration from balance problems and/or front wheel "shimmy".

If you bought your aftermarket wheels in the last couple of years ? They probably have hub-rings. Mine are "American-Panther" (brand) wheels.
I bought em in 2001 they didn't come w/hub rings. I didn't know anything about hub-rings at the time and assumed the wheels were fine.
Up until this year (when I did get hub rings) every time I bought new tires ? I had to go back to the shop and have them re-balanced.
Finely a knowing tire guy told me; "you need hub rings"

You can tell if you have them. The next time you have the wheels off ? look for the black plastic hub ring on the center of the hub, it's obvious but you can't see it when the wheel is mounted.
Hub-rings have made a world of difference in the way my wheels spin.
My car handles like yours now.
