sanding ?

Post by zerosilence »

i have an 83 elcamino and my dad had it for a while, since he had it the car developed a water stain on the right rear fender from swamp cooler driping on it. my question is what do i have to do to fix it i got a car show to go to this weekend and doing a burn out comp. should i use wet sand and clear coat it. and if so what grade sand paper should i use.

to wet sand you wanna use at least 1000 grit. i would esay hit it with the 1000 grit then with 2000 grit. just to make it nice and smooth. wait though if you're just tryin to clear over it i'd use 1500 grit then 2000 grit o there is no risk of goin to past the paint. sorry little drunk right now. but yeah. just do that and you should be fine to clear after wards.

clay?? i have no idea what he could be talkin about. i say just use the 1500 grit and around the fender well wrap a sponge with the sand paper so it contours with with the curves. just make sure that the whole quarter panel is nice and dull. if there is any shiney spot the clear won't adhere as well.
