well... i finally got off my lazy ass and bought me a set and finally did the swap

my experience with GM injectors was far from being a pleasure... OEM set developed nast leak at 60k kms then the replacement set (Genuine GM) developed leak problems at 40k kms so it was no good to get another set of them GM injectors.
i have already tried a set of BOSHC injectors that my mechanic had but they were not that great as they were slightly leaking but they were a perfect fit... i just had to find a good, cheap set for my car as i didn't even know from what car he got this set and he was asking too much for them
last Thursday i went to the used car part shops and got myself a set of BOSCH injectors from a '90 BMW 3 series with an M40 1600cc engine... those are a direct swap for our woos and i recon they are the closest match to my car as far as flow rate is concerned... OK they will be a bit higher flow but it is not that big difference. i got this set for half what my mechanic was offering and that is one fifth of the cost of a brand new set of GM injectors so the risk is at its minimum level as far as financial loss goes.

i couldn't wait till i get home so i dived into the engine bay right at the front of the shop and started the swap... had to remove the EGR valve to make some room and it was a bitch to work on a hot engine at a dark street at 9PM but i couldn't just wait... after the work is done, it was time to fire it up.
spooled the fuel pump and prayed to god that it will be a successful job... first crank and the engine started up, idling is smooth, no dark smoke from the exhaust... i even sniffed some of the exhaust and it didn't smell like "raw fuel" as it used to be with the old injectors... now it is time for a test drive

car seemed to be accelerating with no hesitation as it used to do, engine regained some power and it is constantly asking for more... obviously the old injectors were messing up the performance, i could easily confirm that from the feedback i got from the spark plugs... they were always covered by black deposits which indicates too rich mixture.
i was going fast on the way back from the shop to home and the car felt much much responsive... i then turned the engine off and left it for an hour and went back to start it again to check for leaks as this is my main concern... engine started at first crank (touch wood).
next day i got a set of new spark plugs to replace my old, worn spark plugs that were all messed up due to the leaky injectors, performance was even better and the car felt like the old days again... got too excited on the road and went too hard when shifting to 2nd gear while racing a guy in a NISSAN TIDA and probably busted an engine mount

i am now in the phase of checking the fuel consumption so i am going all easy on the driving - no flooring or racing or even going above 90 km/h) to make a valid test for fuel consumption... i recon despite having higher flow injectors my consumption will be better as now i don't depressurize my fuel system each time i turn off the engine plus the fact that the ECU will rectify the injector's pulses to accommodate for the extra flow so it is going to be all good in the end... or at least i hope so.
more feedback on fuel consumption will be posted later.
