Newbie - What kind of antenna 1999 Nubira wagon?

Post by Jsmith89 »

Hello. I am newly registered. I have as a daily driver a 1999 Daewoo Nubira SX wagon. S-l-o-w-l-y fixing it up. Just did brakes and tires last week, will be installing Sirius (waiting for the SIR KEN-1 unit from ebay as I have a Kenwood Sirius ready fm/CD unit. I happened by this website by searching. I am really pleased and surprised that there are still Daewoo owners still out there and active in forums. Maybe I will get my answer here. I have been searching the whole internet to get a replacement antenna for my Nubira. No dice. The don't seem to exist. I have tried ALOT of places, but they all say no. I know parts are getting harder to find. I have noticed that the Toyota Corollas and the VW Jettas and the Honda Civics have basically the same type of roof antenna. Will any of these be a plug and play solution or does anybody know where I might get a replacement antenna for my car?

I also have another question. My driver's side headlight ALWAYS has condensation in it. drops of water that seem to stay there on sunny, rainy and clear days. How do I get rid of the water/condensation which seems to be Permanent in the headlight? I did find a replacement *used* headlight on ebay for about $120, shipped. Any solutions to this?

Thanks in advance and glad I found this place.!

Welcome here,

The roof antenna for the wagon is a 40cm flexible helical amplified one. There are two cables: coax and +12V.
If the roof housing is still in place you just need to find a whip with a M5 screw. Otherwise you need to buy a complete kit.

Before changing your headlight try to find the leak. Look at the seal between clear and gray sections. Sometime you can get a crack in it.

Hope it help.

Thanks Daniel. If I do find a crack can I reseal it with say silicone (the kind that is used on glass aquariums)? And, then how do I dry up all the condensation in the headlight? will it just go away If I seal it up? I just priced the antenna from Daewoo, it's $180 for the whole thing! No way.....Do you think a similar antenna such as a Corolla or Civic or Jetta might work?

Thanks again.

take your head light off and (with the bulb removed from it) after you put it on a baking sheet, put it in the oven at 150 degrees for 10 min, that will soften the glue up and then you can remove the lens and clean the inside of it. put the parts back in the oven a 150 and rebake it again. then put it back together and just make sure you get a good seal on it, it you dont then try the sealant

Daewoomofo, I'll keep this one in my toolbox. But do you speek in Farenheit or Celcius?

Jsmith89. For the antenna prefer a amplified one. This one looks like the original on my year 2000 Nubira: http://www.installer.com/item/display_i ... it=44-ua30 . Remove the luggage compartiment lamp to see if you have a pre-wired antenna cable.
BTW would you put you location in your profile?

What kind, model #, of antenna will fit a 1999 Daewoo, Nubira Wagon, SX. Don’t think I see it on your website. Thanks.

Can you include a link?

I guess they didn't want to really check it out any further, but, yeah, that looks like it and the price is ALOT better than the dealer's $180!!

Thanks to the poster for the headlight trick. I will try it. OK, will update my profile. I am in Los Angeles County.
