Bad motor mounts

Post by NubiraDellwoo »

Well after scratching my head for many days... I finally figured out my vibration problem at idle... My original thread/complaint

Sometimes the simplest things elude me... :smt102

:How I finally figured it out:
Well when I eliminated everything motor performance related and a few dollars later...
I realized it had to be something in the mounts... I checked all the nuts/bolts to be sure they weren't loose on the hard mounts/brackets... But didn't know how to check for the rubber part of the mounts... Then I came to a realization that I was a dumbass... grrr...
Using my floor jack I simply lifted the engine slightly using the oil pan as support... Just a little pressure upwards... and... there it was... nightmare over... dang I feel stupid... I wish someone would have clued me in on my original inquery/thread...

I did a little searching and found that someone bought these at an AutoZone for replacements though I'm kinda doubting mine has them...

Can someone give me the exact part # for both sides and possibly the cheapest place to obtain them ?

I know its the rubber part but does anyone have a pic of the exact replacement parts that I'll be needing to replace ?.. Would be a big help...

Any tips on replacing these ?.. Can I support the motor with the jack under the oil pan to do these ? Will the pan hold up to that ?

Thanks ahead...

Oh... is there an FAQ on this or a write up that I may have missed ?

Nubira Huh ?

I just replaced my right-side mtr. mount (front of engine) in my Lanos. The rubber part of the old one was cracked.
If you go to Auto-Zone they can get you one. I recall the guy asking me which car and model was it for ? He was looking at a list of all Daewoo models. They don't care about the part number thats on the old one. Auto-Zone has their own numbers. He ordered it from a Auto-Zone distribution center in Ontario Ca. One day service.
The new one is made in S. Korea (I suspect its Daewoo OEM)

You have to support the engine when you loosen the nuts to remove the old mount.
Than you have to let the engine down (slowly) a few inches to get the old one out and the new one in.
At least thats how I did it on my Lanos.
I used my engine hoist to hold the engine in place and a floor jack with a piece of 2X6 wood between it and the engine to raise it back up. Like you did when you tested it? You will figure it out when you get to that point.
After the old mount is un-bolted ? You need to let the engine down. Than install the new mount. Than raise the engine back in place (slowly) and tighten up the mount bolts and nuts.
Its harder for me to explane this than it is to actually do it. Just take your time and don't bind anything. It's easy.
Btw ? the lanos mtr. mount is shaped like an upside down truncated triangle with 2 studs sticking out of the horizontal top

Hope this helps ?

Thanks... I got er done quite easily actually... The advice on removing the mtr mount was appreciated... After loosening up all the bolts... I just had to lower it a tad and the mounts came free... easy enough...

Good thing I finally figured this out... I'd have sold it for scrap otherwise... LOL
