Underbody "Shield" ?

Post by Spider »

Does anyone have a photo of the plastic underbody "shield" (installed on a Lanos) ?

I can't find one in the service manual and I don't think it goes under the right fender.
I washed all the dirt off it and now can't figure out where it goes.

Sorry, I don't have a photo of it.
It's about (U.S.) twelve inches wide and shaped like an "L".
Made out of hard black plastic.

Thanks,

Maybe, its got a crack in it. And I remember when I first got the car back in 2000 ? I thought there was a engine shield made out of steel under it. But of course there isnt. So maybe thats where it goes ? The exhaust is right under the oil-pan ( about 4 inches ) so how could this shield go under the exhaust pipe. ? I have held it up there and it seems too close to the exhaust pipe. I will try again, thinking "bumper"
that may be it ! (It would put it lower huh ?)

this is the only thing i have "left-over" from my recent engine transplant.

to my knowledge there is no shields for anything actually underneath the car except for the bumpers. and if it is the part i'm thinking of it would be the passenger side where the air intake resonator is. its supposed to protect the resonator from water and such. if not take a pic of it if at all possible.

Thanks, Like where does it bolt on ? I had the right wheel off and held it up in the wheel-well every which way and it wont fit in there.
I need a pic of it installed.

I will get a photo of it (uninstalled of course)

It bolts to the metal of the inner fender, and to the front of the radiator support/bumper (not sure which on that front piece)

If you can see the crank pulley with the wheel off... you're missing that piece

ok, I can see the crank pulley, looks like I need to remove the wheel-well "air-box" and another smaller flat piece of shield that covers the air-box. Than install this piece, than put the air-box and the flat piece back.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: I had the under fender splash-shield sequence out of order. :)

Just removed the forword flat front piece is all, than it fit right in !

Thanks again A.R.
