Engine is back in!

The engine went back in easier than it came out. I have connected a lot of the wires and hoses. The tough part is getting the torque converter bolts in. Any tricks or tips? My other challenge is to get the correct torque on the motor mount bolts. The book says 55 or 60 ft. lbs. But it is a challenge just to get the wrench on it. Not much room to turn a wrench.

I took the timing belt off again and fooled with the tensioner some more. I got the same results. I set it correctly, moved the motor around and back to TDC. The arrow moves as the compression of the engine increases and decreases. It seemed to go back to the "new". So I called it good.

Anyhow, I am happy with the progress I've made so far.

Torque converter bolts wont line-up ?

You might try movin the flex plate with a big flat blade screwdriver between the flex-plate teeth, pry it (slowly) around while you "jiggle" the tranny with your other hand ? Not enough hands ? Too much compression ?...pull the spark plugs. Just guessin here.

p.s. is your garage heated ?

Last summer I bought a $10 propane "torpedo" type burner at a garage sale. The first time I lit it I was ready to beat a quick retreat. But so far- so good. I have to run to Walmart to get a filled tank every few days, but it does help some. I put on the long-johns, sweat shirt, sweats, and snow pants. Two pairs of socks. This works pretty well. When there is a will, there is a way.

I have a "mobile home" type furnace in the garage but the regulator went out. My furnace guy gave me a new used one. But when I put it on it sounded like there were squirrels in the chimney. There were none, but the regulator made this scary noise. Rather than being blown up I decided to leave it be and use the portable one. I need to call the furnace guy and get the skinny on it. I think it wouldn't work because there was no bracket to hold it correctly.

Any furnace experts out there??

Very admirable New !

I am spoiled in my climate, working outside in 50 degree sunny weather in jeans and just an old sweatshirt.
If the wind comes up and/or a cloud gets in front of the sun? I start thinking about quiting for the day !
Now if you can do your engine job in your climate ? I better get to work in mine. !

yeah michigan is a bitch in the winter, especially if you dont have a garage or dont have heat for yours
