New Problem — Oil Cap broken

Post by newTotheWoo »

Leganza 2.2
While looking at my new motor I tried to take off the oil cap. It wouldn't come so I "persuaded" it with a cresent wrench. In doing so, I managed to break off a couple of pieces of the threaded part of where it screws on. At least one chunk fell into the tappet cover. I retrieved it but am concerned that other parts are in there.

I looked at the old motor, (broken timing belt), and noticed it too had those spots broken.

Do I need to remove the cam (tappet) cover?

OK- I will follow the wisdom of the forum. Also, does anyone know what tensioners I need and where to get them. (When looking at the broken 2.2 Leganza timing belt it appeared that the tensioner was bad. It would not spin freely.)

The bad one was the left one.

Ok, I am getting my terms wrong. There are two pulleys- the left one {or one toward the back of the car} would not spin freely. I purchased two for $38 each and free shipping. Sorry, drifted off topic.
