I thought I'd check out what the spark plugs looked like in my broken motor (timing belt). Inside the tappet cover there was a LOT of engine oil. So much that when I removed the plug it got coated with oil.
Is this normal?
Is there anything special to be done when changing spark plugs?

I am not sure if i read this right.. but if there is oil on the plug after you take the plug wires off .. leaking valve cover gasket... if you mean when you take the valve cover off, and then the spark plugs out and the side of the sparkplug is covered in oil.. then you need to wipe them off cause oil had leaked inside the cylinder chamber... please repost this.. and make sure to tell which model and engine etc

this is a typical case of bad cam cover gasket... just replace it.
