High Heat would cause that

Probably not before it warps.

Has the owner had a problem with warping?

I've warped rotors about 10 times...several times too bad to drive at all and haven't had any cracking ever.

This could be a number of factors, bot most likely poor quality, overheating and heavy braking...

having really good brake pads and a heavy brake foot. Someone was going really fast and used what it looks like both feet really fast into the brake pedal. Thats the only time i have seen that happen no warping, cause brake was not depressed long enough to warp, so it was brittleand cracked under force of it. Thats my guess.

It would've been a lot worse with drilled rotors.

those were bembo rotors and the way i see it they are way off beeing too thin... owner replaced them rotors because he was having "shudder at braking" symptom which indecates that they are wrapped as well.

i recon the 2.0 and fast driving got a big share of doing that but why should the braking system be too weak to handle the 2.0 engine? the only difference i saw between the 1.6 and 2.0 nubira was the booster.

maybe the period of time that this car was turboed had an effect too... the car was almost unstoppable when you go fast as hell and get carried away with the boost, i recon the OEM braking system is simply helpless trying to stop a 197 WHP car and that should put so much strain on everything including the rotors.

Stress failures due to...

High Heat ----- Low cool time (i.e. puddle or car wash)

High Heat: Hot spots in the metal due to casting characteristics

Low heat: Pads not warm enough tot ake a good bite, so driver inadvertantly steps on pedal harder and causes stress fracture

High heat: warping at low rotor temp, high pad temp resulting in surface crack.

In reality, if you did a dye check on any rotor that's been broken in, it would be riddled with stress cracks, it's just a matter of enviroment and situation as to whetehr or not the cracks get large enough to be seen or matter.
