oil catch can
Moderators: daewoomofo, Moderators Group
What will the catch can do to help our cars?
prevent oil from getting into the intake system, intake manifold, trothle body and in the intake valves
What vent hoses?
the two that come out of the valve cover one is plugged in the air intake and the other in the intake manifold
Plug what hole?
if you unplug the one in the intake manifold you have to cover that hole so u dont get a vacuum leak

oil catch can will catch the oil vapour and small droplets of oil that the engine spit out from the crank case breather and prevent them from going to the intake... those fumes are hot, displace air and will condence on the intake and TB's walls and form dirt and deposits.
oil catch can will keep your intake clean and your intake charge will be healthy for the engine, i clean up my intake and TB every 10k kms and it is not an enjoyable task... i am thining of making myself one of them catch cans.
on daewoos you will find one big hose and one small hose from the crank case to the intake... the big one is to vent large amount of vapour when the engine is revved and the TB is open, the small one is for venting the crank case at idle when the TB is closed... you will note that the small hose is linked to a point past the TB 'cause this is where vacuum exist when the TB is closed.
whatever setup you use, make sure that their are no vacuum leaks whatsoever and the way things are... i see that the inlet for the catch can can be one hose only... the outlet however should have 2 hoses, one big and linked before the TB and the other small and linked after the TB to avoid pressure buildup in the crank case at idle due to lack of vacuum in the catch can.

HAHAHA... that was a very old setup, the most recent setup for this car was a T3/T4 turbo pumping 9psi of boost and the car was producing 197 HP... i guess now no one can make fun of this car eh?

as i said that was a very old setup for a CAI... the car had high pressure tuming, BMW intercooler, EVO oil cooler, BOSCH dump valve, RRFPR, 2.5" exhaust and the turbo was hooked to the OEM exhaust mani using adaptor flange... you can read more about this car in this post:
