Hi to all you daewoo experts , I need help. My father owns a 00 lanos with high mileage, running perfect up till now, started to lose power when driving until alomst stalling . Mechanic changed many things including fuel pump, but no luck . Anyone ever have this problem or any idea on how to diagnose, mechanic doesnt want to work on it any more,he has run out of ideas.... we've spent alot of money so far it would be a shame to give up on it . Any Ideas or Help is greatly appreciated thanks.
These are all the basic components of the fuel system. The only ones that are really hard to see if something is wrong are the injectors, lines, and pump. If you can insert the key and turn it to ON (without bumping the starter) and you hear a whining noise, the pump is fine. If the car starts at all... the lines are ok (and you would smell gas all the time if they were punctured). This leaves the injectors. Aside from an expensive procedure to check and clean the injectors, your best option is to run some heavy-duty cleaner through the system (i.e. SEAFOAM, see how-to section).
If the car runs for more than say 30 minutes, the alternator is fine... this wouldn't cause your problem anyway. The coils going bad would mean two of the four cylinders would be mis-firing. This would certainly throw an ECU code as well. The ECU is fine... far worse things would be wrong should the ECU be acting up. This brings us to plugs and wires. To be honest, what you have sounds like an issue with one of these two things.
Possible problems:
1. Bad plugs
2. Oil in plug threads
3. Oil in plug well
4. Damaged plug wire
What do the plugs look like when they are removed? If they aren't a brown (almost rust) color, then that cylinder isn't firing right. Oil on the threads or cap (where the plug wire attaches) would indicate bad electrical conduction which could be the problem. The plug wires could also be bad, be it an internal fray or a hole in one that is arcing out. At night, run the engine with the hood open. Use a squirt bottle to mist gently above the engine... if you see dancing sparks, it's a plug wire.
Some Steps...
1. Inspect spark plugs for
- oil
- proper burn
2. swap wires MAKE SURE TO SWAP THEM ON THE COIL TOO
- If the engine behaves similar, yet clearly at a different rate of vibration, it's a plug wire
3. Mist water (VERY FINE MIST) over the engine while running (with hood up obviously) at night to see for voltage "leaks"

mine actually stalls completely out over 60kmh under 60 no problemo`s . Did you work out what it was?
You might want to just go to a mechanic who you can trust. dont go to any shady ones or theyll try to tell you its your tires or somthing stupid just to get your money.
