car can not accelerate

Post by greatiliad »

2000 lanos 1.6 AT
car can not accelerate, actually, it move, put when you push gas , it does not accelerate.

I changed the transmission filter, it does not work.
I disconnect the O2 sensor, it does not work
I took off the EGR valve, it is ok, I think, and I disconnect the egr valve when the car is cold, it does not help
I did not find the PCV yet :(
these engine control componet will affect the performance in the long run, but I do not think it will affect my car so dramatically.

I took off timing cover, so I know the enging speed up.

I suspect transmission, but it also dese not look like a typical transmission failure, because the car move(at least the torque convert works) at the idel speed,
just ignor the gas
and If I shift the transmission manually, it does not help

I just have no idea what happened

Do I need any any special tools for the transmission job??
It is so heavy, arount 180 pounds,
probably I need something to move the transmission or remove the engine.

The best indication of the problem is to look at the transmission fluid.... does it smell "burnt" or have small black particles floating around in it?

Do you have to add transmission fluid on a regular basis?

Have you been changing the transmission fluid according to the manufacturers suggested maintenence guidelines?

If you are not the original owner there might be a posibility that the previous owner did something wrong.... such as not checking levels and letting it get low... or they added a non factory additive to the fluid.

Also keep in mind that these transmissions have related electronics.... perhaps it's a bad solinioid or controller.
