Basic Engine tuning

Post by nitromike »

Ok I have a stock Lanos 1.6 2001 and since I will never sell that car I decided to tune it up a bit, what are your suggestions for the easy most basic tuning for the engine? Also what engines would be suitable for an engine swap?

another newbie... hello and welcome!

there are many mods you can do to ur lanos... and quite a large number of possible engine swaps.
jus hav a lil browse thru the various posts or search for whatever takes your fancy first.
the most popular first mod is the cone filter install. makes the car sound 10 times better and some might see a power increase if done properly.

jus hav a look around the "How-to" section, some very helpful stuff in there aswell.
Cargo cultism is a beautiful thing as long as you never fall for it.

to start:
remove the restrictions the car has from factory (air intake resonators and exhaust cat and resonators)
get a CAI or SRAI a header and exhaust no bigger than 2 inches
other mods are have a good ground system, good spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator

now for the engine swap: the best options C20XE, T20SED (nubira engine) or T22SED (leganza engine)

if the swap is to expensive try to turbo the 1.6 engine it will give good results better thant the swap

thats to remove the resonator if you want do a cone filter its a no brainer, you replace the OEM filter and filter box with a cone filter, like this
