remote mount turbos have been around for a while, but i doubt their efficiency

it is cool for cars that have big engines and no space for a turbo set up in the engine bay
remote turbo was on my thoughts but
the intercooler piping would run to low and ground clearence will be short

Not to mention the lag!!!!Nubira2.2 wrote:it is cool for cars that have big engines and no space for a turbo set up in the engine bay

To have to pump all that air back to the front of the car, it'd lose some velocity with the length of the charge pipes too...
Its an idea, but its easy enough to mount a turbo conventionally in our Woo's.

the lag doesnt matter in those cars on the site because they already have powerful v8s to carry them off the line till the turbos kick in....what the heck is so hard about fitting a turbo in the engine compartment of the 4cyclinder cars? I didnt happen to notice any 4 cyclinders on that site that run this....probably because it is easier to fit it in the engine baySlammed wrote:about the lag my woo is very short so I dont think it would be a problem also if you look at the mustangs installation pics they ran the pipes through some of the body

This is nice idea. What about putting turbo below engine, just right behind it (where cat is) in a place of cat?
This way I would keep my exhaust colector (4-2-1) on c20xe, and have a turbo conversion... exhaust colectors that come with turbos are bad, and you loose 15% of power on them.

road clearance?
oil lines?
air lines?
water lines?
i don't think this is going to be a solid setup.

it is a solid set up
all u need is space on the back and a tall car
oil lines - route them like normal but use a pump to move the oil back to the engine
there is no need to dril the oil pan, u can do an adapter for the oil cap in the valve cover for the oil return
air lines no big piping to the throtel body
water lines ? use a oil cooled turbo
thats all no need for a turbo manifold, big exhaust, no fitment problems
googleit and you will find a guy that did it himself and he ran 12.5 @ 114 mph on a Cavalier Z24

extra oil pump and a tall car... what am i going to gain in exchange of that?
we already use the OEM mani on the nubira and it is working flawlessly... just putting the turbo at that remote location will mean extra every thing linked to it, i still don't see why to do all that instead of custom making an adaptor flang.
