How to clean the Oxigen sensor

Post by jlagu »

Does anyone know how to clean the oxigen sensor , on a lanos 1.4 , the first one in the outlet.
It only has one purple wire conected and it seems easy to unscrew, but after that, how could you clean it, if possible.

you cannot clean a O2 sensor. you have to replace it. if you use any cleaner n it it will destroy the sensor.
Aveo that moves! Now I need those cams!

i tried to clean mine with GUNK carb. cleaner... the cleanup didn't change how the car acted at all so its either an ineffective cleanup method or the sensor wasn't dirty... the sensor is still working fine though.

Dude,

From what I have read, you cant "clean" an O2 sensor, sure you can brush off any carbon and coke, which may help it sniff a little better, but this things are a consumable item, like your spark plugs and need to be replaced.

I did find a really good tech article on these things on the web, if your'e interested, I can try and find it again and post a link. In the interim though, check out this link, dont be surprised if there is nothing specific on Woo's but what is there may help trouble shoot a few things.
