well after a long hard search for a good cheap lanos with a broken timing belt has left me in a hard spot. my mom didn't sell her house so that means I don't get my sisters nubi yet. So for the mean time I am thinking about having some fun with a 240 sx I found some for really cheap with easy fixable problems for under $800. but I will not be leaving this forum I will still try to help out in whatever way I can with all of the newcomers that seem to keep finding this site everyday and I still put notes under peoples windsheild wipers with the websites address.
also check out my lanos stuff for sale in the classifides, it's just sitting in my room collecting dust when I would rather someone else have it on there car and having fun with it!
cheers
timmay

240SX is a fun car for sure.... but you have to make sure the body isn't all rusted out.... I went out looking for a 240SX and couldn't find anything in my price range that had a solid undercarrige.... most looked good from the sides but once I looked underneath I found holes all over the place.
I ended up with an 86 Nissan 300ZX.... which had a great body and was lots of fun to drive.
There are piles of turbo 300's around and they are fairly easy to find parts for..... most autowreckers have a couple of them kicking around.
I got rid of mine due to the fact that the tranny was a month away from destruction..... I traded it in on a Honda Civic (which I had for a couple of years)
Anyways..... both cars are fun in the summer..... but they really suck in the winter.... considering your from San Fran.... you should have no problems.

I'm assuming you got an S13, those are really nice, with an SR20DET black top swap you can do low 13's completely stock... Although you live in California, and they have tighter rules on getting an engine swaps (such as the SR20)... But they're fun cars =) i personally like them

I was actually planning on going with the ka24de swap due to the fact that the parts are much easier to get for the ka compared to the sr. I have been looking a lot of the under carriages and most of them seem to be in good condition as long as they have been here in the bay area. We have a fair amount of rain but thankfully no snow.
my room mate just got a 54 bug that was a san francisco car since day 1 and the pan was in almost perfect condition the body had worse rust then the bottom of the pan.

All U.S. 240's came with KA24DE There is no such thing as a "stock SR20DET" in the states unless the whole car was imported... But a lot of people import just the engine and do a swap...
I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the RB20DET or an RB26DET mmmm... those are some sick engines... yey for skyline engines! if i got one, there would totally be no chance i wouldn't help put it in my friends 240

well I was looking at the 89-90 models which only come with SOHC and then the 91-94 come with the DOHC. But I am actually going to get a 92 today that needs a new tranny because it doesn't go in reverse, the price of the fix-400 cost of car-500.
but I have been looking at a second engine except the imported brand new engines with transmissions for the SR20DE combo are 2700 for the whole engine package.
