I am confused...
i am confused guys... you all know i am not going to be keeping my current Woo so i am consedring my options.
i am intrested in the 1.5 SOHC Aveo sedan as well as a 1.5 SOHC Lanos sedan so i was comparing some numbers but things doesn't seem to be logical here, here is some data that i found:
http://www.almansourauto.com/Features/V ... 3/aveo.mht
Aveo Lanos
Horse Power(hp/rpm) 83@5600 86@5600
Torque(n.m/rpm) 128@3000 137@3000
Weight (Kgm) 1065 1036
Max. speed(km/h) 170 172
0-100km/h(sec) 12.1 12.5
you see here the aveo seems to be heavier and got less poer yet it is faster from 0 to 100 which is rather illogical, both car got the same engine but the managment is different, the Aveo is OBDII so i guess that makes up for the 3HP loss but how can it slash 0.4 seconds with 3HP less and 30Kgms more??
i recon their is something wrong with the data i got from the local dealer so please if any one of you guys got solid information about the 1.5 SOHC Aveo sedan specs. please confirm the data i have got here... i don't want to be spending 10k more (1,750 USD) on a slower car than my lanos, OK it is pretty as hell but beeing slow is ugly.

ummm... i recon the tranny on the 1.5 SOHC aveo is a D16 just like the lanos so they share the same gear ratio, will body arodynamics (spelling) make this difference in 0-100 time?
on another review they said the car does the 0-100 in 13 seconds... more confusion for me.
now on the handling side of things: anyone drivin both cars can give feedback on how different both cars are? in other words, which one handles better?

various as in "so many ratios" or as in "short and long ratios"?
i though the short ratio always came with the 1.5 SOHC and the sport versions with the 1.6 DOHC... please correct me if i am wrong.

well when i broke my f16, i got another f16 from a 1.5 dohc from a Espero and guess what? its shorter.
an another thing. the aveo may have 3 hp less and heavier but you need to see a dyno sheet to see the real difference between the two.
because you dont know if the Aveo's powerband is more effective or lest better say productive than the lanos one.

IC... with the lack of dynos arround here i guess that will only be decided with a test drive for one of them Aveos.
any feedback on the handling charactristics of this pretty car??

I test drove a 1.6 Aveo with the 5 speed transmission and it felt MUCH slower than my Lanos, even when my Lanos was 100% factory stock.
The accelleration was noticably less and the cornering did not feel as tight. I was not impressed after being used to driving my Lanos.
I do feel that changing the suspension, intake and exhaust would make a HUGE difference in the performance of the Aveo.
I really like the look of the hatchback Aveo, but it does not have a lot of room in the trunk area for a big speaker box. LOL

well, i test drived a 5 speed and i have got to say..tisk.tisk it handles sloppy and i could g faster intake off in reverse in my lanos, the top speed is a little lower than my lanos, but not as fast reving to that great 100 mark. ..see cliffs post above... they do look cool though,,, he eh

thanks for the feedback guys... now we have the 2007 model available here and it costs as much as the old shape and still got the 1.5 SOHC engine, the car looks bigger so i recon it is much heavier as well so i don't expect it to be faster than a lanos:
the car is pretty as hell but given the test drive feedback it lost some of its temptation for me, a new lanos still better price wise and now it is better performance wise so... the lanos still ranks fist on my wish list.
