An A/C Cooled Intake?

Post by lanowoo »

i was wondering if anybody has ever done or thought about on these hot days and gathering hot air into your intake, robbing you of power, has anyone ever thought about taking the blower out of the interior, or placing another one on a separate part of the intake and put the coldness of the freon, blowing throughthe fan and making the intake good and cold. And that would be good for turbos and drag racing. Tell me what u guys think and maybe down the road i will do that to my lanos.

You would not gain anything over what the A/c takes in power. esp in a 4 cyl. Plus you have a chance of building up condensation in the intake which would be very bad for the engine.

i dont think putting nos in your car is worth it in my opinion unless you have a completley rebuilt motor and plan on racing alot lol. It will shorten the life of your engine and might cause alot of problems. Ive had two friends who bought NX kits. one kid had a older rx-7..... his car BLEW up and the other kid had a civic and had to get a whole new engine. Oh and the kid with the rx-7 is now driving a Camry. ;)

NOS

Post by wolfhound »

Now that just depends on how big you go.

I installed a 25hp wet NOS kit in a Nissan Almera (FWD 1600 16v) and it ran like a dream. the problem is when guys get greedy and run too big a shot through a std motor.

I know a guy in the local Team Krazy car club that ran a 75hp kit on his 16000 8v Opel Corsa, he ran something like 10 bottle through it with no problem. Then sold the car !!

So long as you have enough petrol going through when you NOS it, then you wont have a problem. Running lean is the engine killer.

for me i think NOS is totally out of practicality... you can only use it for some 15 seconds per shot and you got endless refills to do as long as you are using it, turbo beats NOS by miles.

i'd say a 25HP shot...NOS is dangerous so i am beeing very much on the safe side.

Your safe on a 50 shot. I contacted ZEX they have a kit for the Aveo. it's a 30 - 50HP kit. NO2 will not hurt your engine if it is hooked up correctly. But yeah anything over 50 on a stock 4 banger expect to see your connecting rods soon.
