Custom strut bar

Hi i have a 2001 nubira and i was wondering if i could make a strut bar for it. I would make it look exactly likr the one in the pic below. Also i want to make a rear strut bar as well. Can i do that or should i just but one and re drill the holes? And was will it do to my handeling? i already have wider tires and sport springs witch made a huge difforence.

if it is a 1.6 nubira then you will need a strut bar that is lifted upwards as much as you can to clear the intake... something like the one in the second pic, if it is a 2.0 then the one in the first pic can fit.

you can re drill the holes in the brace to make it fit easly so that is not an issue at all, the only issue will be the intake & PWS reservoir clerance.

as for handling: according to the feedback i got from Zikas, you will wonder how did you ever managed to drive the car without the strut bar.

yea i like the one in the pic but its cost like $200, and i dont think it would clear my powerstering cap. So i was thinking about making one exactly alike but higher and the right size. We have all the metal and a welder so it wouldnt cost me anything. Would that be too risky???

the beam of a strut bar is made of hollow aluminum so that it breaks if the car got hit from the side rather than ruining both your engine bay sides or so i am told.

if you have the right material to do it then by all means do.

thats a great idea... the brackets are not that complicated and you can make them according to the engine bay specs.
