has anybody had the head planed on the optra

how much did u plane

any pros and cons sugestions?

if you take too much off you will have to use higher octain fuel. when you plane the head you raise the compression ratio. if you raise it too much you will have to use raceing fuel, id do some research on it before you do it. but if you do it right you will have a power increase

thats a bad idea on DAEWOO heads

they have very litle to cut

if better if you get port and polish and higher compression pistons

shave off of the bottom of the head to raise comp.

by shaving the bottom there is less room for the a/f mixture as the result more compression

but when u shave too much u can damage the combustion chamber

any one know how much to chave to get a targeted compression ratio?... i mean is their a formula or so that one can use to know exactly how much to shave to get to say 10:1 compression?

also how much thick should one get a head gasket to reduce compression to 8.5:1 for turbo applications and so? is their a way to calculate that as well??

Would take much to get 10:1 figure we already have 9.5:1

There is a formula for that... but I dont know it

to drop my compression down to an acceptable level i used the good old Pie R squared.

adding 1.25mm of compression (Shorten the con rods or use a deck plate) gives you 8.58 to one
adding 1.5mm = 8.4 - 1
2mm = 8.08.

the head on my 2l leganza has been shaved a little. It runs better when its on 98 octane but there isnt much different on 91 octane. It hasnt had much taken off, but when i got my head done after my timing belt went, they took off more then what they would if they just machined it, i dont know how much though.
