Drivers side window

Post by fishvict »

So, I'm on the NJ Turnpike, and my window decides that it doesn't want to go up. Next day, I pull the door panel off to realize that the guidewire is totally wrapped around itself. So, the question is.. is this thing easy to replace? What further steps would I need to take to get at it? I figured out how to get the door panel off, but it looks like I'd have to take the whole door apart to get at the motor and the guidewire. The next question, of course, is where can I get a new wire? The wire in there looks frayed and stretched, so where can I get a new one?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Could you show me a pic of the wire?

It would help me help you. :)

Also... it is good to go fill out your profile and list things such as what car you drive.

It gives us a quick reference so we don't have to remember exactly what everyone drives.

My apologies for not posting the proper info. 3 year old on my case while I was trying to post.

Anyway, its a 2002 Leganza. 36,000 miles.

It was hard to take pictures, so I hope these help.

Thanks

No problem, I just noticed that the profile entry for "what we drive" is now gone... It used to be there... *shrug*

Okay... as for that wire, it look like it's just twisted steel wire. Which I think is pretty easy to get your hands on.

I would say you have probably two choices. You can either make a new wire to replace it (buy some steel wire and cut/mount it). Or order a brand new one from somewhere. www.DaewooUS.com would have the wire you're looking for, but I don't know what they would ask for it.... and I'm guessing you're probably going to have to take a good portion of the door apart to get that all in there.
