custom made header for 1.6l just an idea

Post by DomWoo »

ok guys as you can see it is hard to get a header for the lanos and aveo and if you do find one you will be paying a ton of money for it like the last person i seen..

i am going to purchase a TIG welder here soon and was thinking about constructing a few headers if the demand is there

this is all just an idea i have had

first off i will make one. for my stock lanos to see how it would turn out

i havnt gotten any pricing yet but

i would need to get flanges cnc cut and hope to use SS pipes

you could have 2 options

1) 4-1 header that replaces the stock header and precat

2) 4-2-1 and would replace everything, even the second cat but would cost more

so here is what i need you to d, tell me how many of you would be interested and in what type and how much you would pay

the more people we get the cheaper it would be.

in 3months, i would be interested in a 4-1 (#1) to replace my stock 1.6 lanos, i will start a price if you can give me quality, at $60 USD. this will help you start off a base price, you give me a price from there after you get materials and make the profit you want off from them.correct my price if you think its neccesary.

sorry, but to be honest with you guys.

with those prices you will not get anything.

about 170-200+ is a reasonable price for a header. even more if its custom built.

for example im only paying over 150+ to weld my custom made intake manifold, thats not include materials and labor!!!

sorry to be harsh but no wonder why you guys cant find decent priced parts.

i know, they are more expensive, but i am just trying to get an idea of what people would want and then he can raise that price around 150+as he wanted.

I dont disagree with you one bit and I dont have a problem paying that much but when you see how much a D16 header is then you can see why people post such low prices

seems like that header could fit a 1.6 DOHC with minor mods... right??

ok i did some searching for pricing and if i was to build from scratch a header out of SS it would cost me over 100$ is parts then all the welding and time spent making it

honda civic headers i think are made by a robot lol.. there is no way any human can make a header for that cheap

that is a 4 2 1 header though. and if it fits around oil pan is another question

if this is at all possible i could try this.. i know i tried to use a d16 header for my turbo project but it stuck out to far and leaked because the ports were grinded to big and the lanos ports were so small (i did hand cut a new fllang for it)

it would still cost me around 50 for the that header then i could cut off the honda flang and tig weld the daewoo flang on

depending on how much it is going to cost to have a thick flang made (notice in the picture that that flang is very thin and would worp) would set the price

hell i wouldnt mind doing this for you guys if this is what you want but im still going to say that its going to cost atleast 50$ (could be more could be less) to have the flang cut BUT the more people that want them the more that will drop

if i would have owned a daewoo when i was in high school i could have cut a million flang's on the cnc plasma cuter all day long for free but i do not have that option anymore

is easy

u have to enlarge some holes in the flange of the D16 header to fit in the Lanos engine

and cut the D16 header colletor so that u can solder al new Flange so that it could fit the Lanos exhaust

Optional: u can relocate the O2 sensor if u donta want to add cable to the sensor line
