I was driving north on I-95 in North Carolina when I got a ticket a few years ago, even while using the radar detector.
They were using POP or Instant-On radar, so you are right next to the police car that is hidden off the side of the road and they hit your car with radar that is only on for an instant.
By the time your detector goes off, it's too late.

I found out the hard way. :(

Also, north of Atlanta, GA, the city has radar signal devices mounted on the overpasses and on the side of the road just to make radar detectors useless because they constantly go off even when there is not cop around.

That happens here too, there will be no reason for the rd to start beeping. For example, every time we go to our local Vons,we get to the parking lot and the rd starts beeping for no reason. A lot of times it seems to happen for no reason, you look around thinking,"Where's that bastard cop hiding?" but there's no one there.

Oh yeah - I forgot to tell you - LOL ... the reason it is going off when you go into a parking lot is the radar sensor on the automaticly opening sliding doors on the store.

The doors use one of the same frequencies to "see" someone walking up to the door as police radar!

If your radar detector has a 'City' setting, this helps reduce some of the false beeps from automatic doors.

I was thinking that there must have been a signal on the same frequency, but never thought about those automatic doors, now that makes sense though.

The ONLY one worth spending money on is the Valentine One. They are around $400, but they're the only one that works as well as they do.

I won't waste money on another one again. The next one I get will be a V1.
