Petrol Gauge registers level at all times

Post by j62k »

Hi, the petrol gauge in my Nexia registers the amount of petrol in the tank even when the ignition is switched off and the keys are out, I have never seen this in a car before, is it normal for that to happen?

Thanks

my lanos does the same thing, its normal. Its either manual float in the tank or the power feed is constant.

actually the fuel gauge needle got some kinda "brake" when the ignition is off the brake is applied and the needle is held still at its current position when the ignition was on.

this is why you can refill the tank with ignition off and still the needle won't regester the fuel added to the tank... only when the ignition is on - and needle brake disingaged - the gauge starts climbing up once again.

very handy indeed.

its better than electronic ones that goes down after you turn the key off and takes 10minwhen u start your car. It is really good when you are seeing if someone is stealing your gas... anyways its good.

the fuel guages work on a negitive variable switch. it has full positive power when the key is on, and the needles position is determined on how much negitive it gets
