LED light for reverse lights. how to
Hello,
I want to put two small blue LED's in two small holes in my trunck. (don't ask i will show later) lol
I don't know the exact specs on the LED's they are at my house. But they are like 5 V bright blue from Radio shack.
I want to hook them to my reverse lights? How do I do this? Please help, I need to get them in the holes before it rains. lol.
I think I need a resistor can any one tell me an easy to follow formula in lamens turms for me?
Thank you all.
Brian

what i did to put led in my rear lights, is changed the fuse to a higer amp hold. from 10amps to a 20 or 30 amp fuse, then i just tied the led straight in, it works just fine.

so I don't need a resistor?
You mean the car has 10 amps.
I think the Blue LED I have is only 20 ma wouldn't that blow it up?
I want to just splice into my reverse lights and put a wire to some LED's and I just wanna know how much voltage is there because I don't have a volt meter.
I think I might have to buy one huh?

i didn't worry about a resistor, i just tapped into the original back up lights and put a heavier fuse in for the lights. but you may want to find out a resistor to put on it , try a parts store, the may have a volt meter you could use. Go to a dealer and they should have the specs that you need. or look up in this site for the manual, it might have it in there. you may have to buy one, but you could take it back after you have checked it, as long as you have youre recipt, right, 20ma would blow it, but try to put a higher load limit by a fuse.

you may have to use a resistor, since i only have a lanos and i am not sure, but you know after you put it in and somethings not right, you can change the resistor, my lanos has 12v supply. but the led still works.

yes the light is a 12 volt power sourse. you dont need a bigger fuse, LED's use very small amounts of current (.0002 amp) so id put your origional fuse back in (lanowoo) and for the resister id get a 10k ohm resister, they are cheap ($.99 for five) hope this helps, lets see pcs of the finished work (i think i know what is gonna be)
thanks, i just have the xtra bugger fuse also for future mod benefits(all corners of tailights will have 126 leds each, and a computer control.
