What Can I Do with this and what can it do for me?
1.6 L 2001 Lanos HB DOHC 98,578miles, What can i do or what all will a thicker cylinder head gasket do for me more hp or something, also, i just want my valve cover gasket to just stop leaking, i have had it replaced 5 times by the dern suzuki/woo dealership i bought it and it still leaks. could it be warped, or could the valve cover had been mysteriously dropped by someone and it is not tight enough on the engine. any ideas would be apreciated bc i have no a/c in my car couse the belt slips off from all of the oil. and it is starting to get hot in kentucky.

they keep on insisting that there are no ways in the world that it is warped. But they think that just because i am a girl that they don't have to do anything about it . if i have to do something like that, i would have to try to schedule an appointment and they would insist that it is a stupid idea. I mean that. Well anyone would wander after a while that there have been 5 gaskets from the start that something is wrong. The only thing that i could think to maske a gasket do that is warped or engine temperature is to hot that it is drying the gasket out. but something like that would make a big diffrence, and i could tell it on the guage itself. i hasve only had it over heat twice, once from thermostat housing breaking and when a seal broke, letting coolant out. I pure think they don't believe me that it could be warped. Can you think of anything else?

well depending on how long you have owned the car, and how much time between the gasket changes, you might be able to do some thing under the "lemon law". i dont kow the specifics on it but i know that i says that if ther is a problem that cannt be fixed in so many servises they will have to give you your money back on the purchase (and they keep the car of course) like i said i dont know hat specifics but it might be some thing to loook in to, depending on how far you want to take this
Ireall don't wanna take it that far since, i will have no other car to drive, and i like a daewoo, i could buy another one but, i have done little modsd to it that makes me want to keep it, my car is a burgundy color, i have painted the hatch back handle bracket front grille and Liscense lamp shiny silver and taken the resonator out of the bottom of the bumper and i have cut some of the hose that goes to the air box at an angle and put it backwards to it wouldn't get water in the engine intake. I will think about that one (lemon law). i have had it since september of last year.

well are you near another daewoo service provider? if you are take it to them to check it out. or if it happens again then tell them that to check the warped head won't take long if they have to take it apart anyways. i believe all they have to do is just put a level of some sort on it to see if there are any gaps or uneveness.
and you know what. i think i'm in love. a chick modding a woo on her own and rather keep the car than get rid of it.

thanks, i just try anything to keep my car lookin good, i will do anything if i set my mind on it, as long i don't break anything, thats what a nissan is for, right. The next dealership is like 90 miles away, i am supposed to have a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, since that what the sticker says on my door! could i take it to a (GM) General Motors dealer and maybe they could fix it?lanos2001 wrote:well are you near another daewoo service provider? if you are take it to them to check it out. or if it happens again then tell them that to check the warped head won't take long if they have to take it apart anyways. i believe all they have to do is just put a level of some sort on it to see if there are any gaps or uneveness.

Whenever they can fix it i will try and do something. Whenever i get my car worked on, i am right there beside my car, rain or snow watching them fix it, they will know when they do something wrong putting it back together, cause i will personally tell them. They probably made mistakes if i wasn't watching like a dog, i have one mechanic pull something out of a hat like that and he was suprised that i knew what that shiny thing on my car was. That tells you how dedicated i am to fixing this car. Even if the dealership don't like me putting on a helmet and staying with my car, they should pay me.... i swear.

two over heat incedents CAN make a head wrap... the point is it wraps at the block side not the cover side... or at least that is what i was told.
leaking cam cover gaskets is kinda common with the 1.6 DOHC engine but i think you are exceeding the "usual" occurence of this problem.
on our cars here we use little gasket maker to keep the gasket alive for longer time... i am not sure if the head is wrapped from the upper side but if it is; it can lead to too much leaks.
did this problem start to appear after the overheating incedent?
were all the old gaskets in good condition yet their were leaking?
how long does it take for your gasket to leak after installation?
got any other issues with your engine that is related to wraped head? (coolant in oil or oil in coolant, coolant or oil leaking from the head/block area?

Qusetions & Answers:

how long does it take for your gasket to leak after installation? a day to a week.
they use and i use gasket maker to keep it in good condition, but it hasn't proven helpful. they said cam gaskets were ok, but i don't believe them, they didn't even check under the timiing cover, it could just be slinging it up top whenever the engine is started. I don't think it is leaking below, but it might be. there is oil under the engine, but no makings of an head leak. Probably from spilled oil from leak somewhere. Its confusing and agravating.

faulty cam shaft seals would leak to the outside of the engine and would cover the belt side of the block, cam cover gasket would leak into the spark plug holes and on the head from the top... both leaks are very hard to cause ponds of oil under the engine unless the leak is very sevear.
what are the leak symptoms you are having? were exactly is the oil going out from the inside of the engine? did you check the cam cover itself to see if it is broken or so??

i havent personally looked into too of a depth into the cam leaking put when i drive my car to say a mall and leave it and come back in about an hour or two, there will be a United states dollar size (3-1/2 x 4-3/4) drops on to the pavement. It fairly bad, but i have no real shelter to take and put it on jackstands and start jumping into it. I check what i can.
Here is a picture of where it is comming out of the front, sorry for the bad representation, i have no camera or scanner.
