Would a 1.8/2.0 8v go into a Lanos (1.4).....?

Hello people,

Just a question about engines. I want to change the engine on my Lanos from a 1.4 at present
to a 1.8 or 2.0. My uncle who works for vauxhall said that the engine from the
Astra Mk2 (Kadett) would be the easy fit, the engine codes are 20SE, 18SE. The Astra Mk3
engine codes are X18XE this is the ecotec engine like the redtop would this fit?
But what about the Cavalier (Vectra) engines? Will the stock 1.4 gearbox be ok? or would i have to get one from a 1.6 lanos? Also what other problems would i encounter?

I am not sure about the gearbox, you may have to upgrade to D16/D20 (found with 1.6 DOHC and 2.0 DOHC). And yes, any of the motors you mentioned will drop right in. If you are for the power, may I recommend the C20LET from Clibra AWD or Vectra AWD

SHort of that, the redtop (I am assuming you are taking it off Astra mk3 or Vectra?), or C20XE (Astra Mk2 GTE) will work just fine. Gearbox-wise, you can also use Vaux-based F-series, but they have cable-driven clutch and mechanical speedo. Ultimately, go for C30XE from Omega 3.0 V6

Are the engine and gearbox mounts the same on them engines as the lanos?
I dont fancy welding anything if possible. Also will the ECU slot right in?
One last question with the wiring are they easy top connect or will i have to get
adaptors?

You will have to use engine mount from kadett E (GSI/GTE)2.0 or Astra mk2 2.0... There is only 1 engine mount... c20xe is the best fit for lanos. It is more than 110Kw...

Gearbox have two mounts. Use D16 from 1.6 DOHC lanos, or F16/F20 from GSI... Upgrade breaks also! It's a must for this engine... It will rocket you on 1/4 mile in 15s!
