Air flow Sensor??

Post by chooka_xx »

Gday
I'm looking at putting a CAI on my 1.4 Lanos but am wondering is there any air flow sensors or anything like that on the original intake? If so can I just plug or fit them into my new intake?? As i wanna go for the whole stainless steal pipe instead of pvc piping...
Cheers

I think there is. Look for a plug that connects to the side of your stock intake pipe near the engine. :)

I think you could re-fit that to whatever intake you put together.

we got no air flow sensor on daewoos, we use MAP sensor instead.

the only sensor in the intake tube is the IAT sensor which tells the ECU how hot/cold the air going into the engine... it is sitting on a gormet so all you need to do is to drill a hole that fits the gormet, install the gormet into the hole then plug the sensor in.

I just have a question ask. Is it safe to disconnect the MAT (Manifold Air Temperature sensor) or is it a bad idea. Cus I have seen things and people saying disconnecting it you gets more power cus it takes in more air then.

disconnecting that sensor would throw in a CEL and i higly doubt that the fail safe for a non functional IAT sensor would gain you any performance whatsoever.

If I'm not mistaken, unplugging the IAT sensor will make your car go into a "safe mode" which makes your car run really rich "use higher ratio of fuel to air" which kills your gas mileage and power. If it is really cold outside, then this could help, but otherwise, it is bad to your engine and could create harmful deposits on the valves and exhaust.

an ECU reset won't hurt... no need for a real tune up or so.

Or you can just unplug the temp sensor and let it dangle out of the way of spinning components. Good enough.
