Spark Plugs

Post by PrecisionBoost »

I was on an Aveo forum and someone was asking about colder spark plugs.... so I did some digging

NGK lists the following plugs for the Aveo and Lanos...

All types with 0.044 Gap

Standard BKR6ES-11
V-Power BKR6E-11
G-Power Platinum BKR6EGP
Laser Platinum PFR6L-11
All types with 0.044 Gap
OE Laser Iridium IFR6E11
Iridium IX BKR6EIX-11

Now for the good news..... the 1999 Honda Civic Si ( B16A2 ) engine also uses the exact same plugs.

So getting plugs that are colder ( for nitrous and turbo ) should be very easy for the 1.6L

I did find a listing for a BKR7ES-11 which should be one heat range cooler than the stock plugs.

As well.... keep in mind that gap has to be decreased for turbo and nitrous applications....somewhere between 0.025" and 0.030" should do the trick without messing anything up at idle.

1994 Opel Calibra 4X4 turbo ( C20LET 2.0L Turbo )
2002 Daewoo lanos
