I got pulled over about 2 weeks or so ago for not using my turn signal about 4 times. That was the warning part, but the cop gave me a repair order for my brake lights. They don't come on unless I turn my foglamps on when I'm drivin. Is there something wrong with that? Could I just turn my foglamps on when they are checking it at the police station? WTF do I do?? My cars in the best shape its ever been.

The signals ONLY work when the fog lamps are on?!?

That is VERY strange! LOL

Are they after-market fog lamps? If so, who installed them?
If they are after market, it sounds like someone cut into the wrong wires to get power for the fog lamps (only a guess).

+1

this sounds just like wiring screw up to me... some one used the wrong wires to power the fog lights and both the fog and brake light are in a series sercuit now, you need to check your fog wiring immediatly... God knows what else is screwed up their not to mention a fire hazard as well.

There is nothing aftermarket about my car at all. It's been babied for about 5 years, and now I've got it. Is this going to be expensive? My headlights have two clicks aside from off, the first one is the daytime running lamp (not fog lamps, i didnt pay extra) and then full on headlights. Only does the brake lights come on when the runnng lamps are on, but the reverse light n shite still works. All because of YET ANOTHER GAY MOTHER FUCKING COP!

Watch your language budy!
There seems to be a short circuit or melting of wires that cause that. I recomend you to go to a local Electromechanic to check that for you.

I agree that sometimes policeman aren't what we wish for, but they are there to protect us.

Off topic: You would not believe the stress, paperwork and crap that police have to deal with every day. I know, I was one for the military for a while, and I do contract work in a police station and see a lot that goes on that most people never know about.

On topic:

It sounds like somthing has either been cut in the wiring harness or under the dash and wires are touching, or something has melted together.

Both of which are not good as it may be a fire hazard.

I think the official name is Buddy or Bubb or even That Guy Over There (when someone points to him from across the garage)

I had a weird lighting wiring problem as well. Turns out there was a corroded connector under the driver's seat. It din't take long to get at it. Just take the seat out, remove the door sill trim and lift the carpet. If it's corroded, you'll be able to tell by looking at it. The connector that was corroded was right after the hump on the floor right below where the front of the seat would be.

Some diagnostic thing read out it was a faulty break light switch... so the mechanic ordered the wrong part, and just found out today when I went in to get it installed. But, I ordered some drilled and slotted rotors n pads off ebay. They'll probably come in before the part lol, and I'll finally have a car that stops properly... if not better. I was thinking of possibly getting an alignment after this all, is there anything I should do first like rotate the tires and stuff? cause my old worn down rotors pull to the right when I get on them. just figured I'd ask.
