Low cost Lanos Sport for sale on Ebay (possible timing snap)

Post by JohnnyC »

Ebay Lanos Hatchback for $775

Sounds like it had a timing belt snap. Has a sport front bumper and possibly a new fender as well. 43k miles.

Thought some of you might like to know about it.

Holy hell!

The damage doesn't look that bad, but a timing snap at only 43,000 miles? My new Lanos has 41k!

I'm ordering a timing kit this weekend!

I can see where the collision was. Front right side. Might not be a timing belt after all... Notice how under the headlight it's missing that small part that goes there.

The front bumper is a Sport one... and that right fender looks like it's been replaced as well.

Well from my point of view it is pretty easy to see that the hood doesn't seem to line up properly. The gap is huge. But who knows how that translates to the body and if it is even worth repairing.

Hell for $725 for a Lanos Sport, I'd be all over it.

Hmmm I was looking at the engine pic... No valve cover. Looks like the timing belt is still there though.

Air filter box is in a strange position too. Looks like it's half open over there. And the power steering fluid reservoir looks strangely dirty.

There is nothing there that a quick engine replacement can't take care of.

Inexpensive Lanos Sport and an inexpensive running engine with a weekend of work would result in a nice Lanos in no time at all.

I am going to tell my friend abot this as he may be very interested in buying it.

A salvage title can easily be changed and have the car back on the road in no time at all.
