New Sirius satellite radio (now with new pics!)

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

Well, my second JVC KT-SR2000 Sirius radio died withing a year and a half, so I decided to get a different model.

I bought a new Starmate Replay and it's great! :)
It is much smaller, lights up blue to match the rest of the interior lights in my car, and best of all, it has a record and replay feature the old radio did not have, so if I miss something I am listening to, I can rewind and replay.

This time, I paid for the 4 year replacement warranty at Best Buy, so if it breaks, they will replace it for free. :)

Yes, I know, but right now, since I have no job and am back in school full time, $500 is a little more than I can afford at the moment.

I pay yearly and get 2 months free for $144, so 14 months for the price of 12.
If you pay month to month, it is $12.95.

Sirius is a pay service for music, entertainment, news, talk and sports that is similar to cable or satellite TV (you pay for it to get the service).
There are no commercials on any music stations and there are very few commercials on the talk, news and entertainment channels.

Best of all, no matter where you drive in North America (I am not sure about South America) the stations do not fade out like FM radio stations do.

For example, I drove over 2400 miles (almost 4,000 km) across the US and listened to the same radio stations all the way.

It works like this:

There are DJs, announcers, sports and shows sent to geosynchronous satellites in space.
Those satellites brosdcast back down to earth.
If you have a satellite antenna and receiver radio in your car, boat, home or office, you can listen to almost anything you want.

Look here: http://www.Sirius.com for full details.

This explains what it is and how it works: http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentSe ... 5475754112

And here is a full list of all the channels available: http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentSe ... RadioGuide

I've listened to both XM and Sirius and I just like the Sirius content a lot better.
Besides, Sirius has Howard Stern, completely uncensored. That alone is worth having it instead of XM. :)

I listen to Tommy and Rumble on my local FM99 http://www.fm99.com/ which has the highest rated morning show in Virginia.
When their show is over, I switch back to Howard. LOL
