sealing bumper/splitter and vibrating wing

Post by kinkyllama »

Anyone have any suggestions on how to seal the air splitter and the bumper? I need something that can come off easy cuz I have to take off the splitter to work on alota things on the car. I wanna use silicone but it'd be a pain. Theres like a good 1/8" I cant close up.

Also, at 80mph my rear wing starts to vibrate. At 110 its very very noticable, I was affraid to go any faster. How the hell can I stop this? The wing is as tight down as its going to get. Its not worth having a wing if I can even go above 110mph.

Thanks in advance guys!

can you adjust the angle of the wing? i told you it would vibrate ;) but if it's really bad it can be the angle... it will create pockets of air between the rear glass and the wing and you won't get smooth flow... resulting in severe vibration

Yes I can.. but its set at the least amount of downforce. Should I adjust it for more?

Anyone got any ideas for the splitter?

and audacity, would moving the wing to make mroe downforce (since its on the weakest setting) possibly get rid of it, or just make it worst?

try adding more... but just a little, and try it out.

as for sealing... what about foam rubber... put a strip between the splitter and the bumper and crank it down with your bolts so it's wedged

Well Its not vibrating anymore and I didnt adjust it. Hmm, maybe it was just really windy.

I'll try that.. what type of rubber do you have in mind?

um... i was thinking along the lines of a weather stripping... like a soft rubber tube that can collapse when squeezed
