New Seats (with new pics)

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

I have been wanting new seats, and now that the driver seat in my Lanos is falling apart, I decided it was time to actually buy new ones, so here they are:

Image

I just bought them on ebay for $217 for both seats with sliders and that includes shipping.

When they arrive, I will take the car to the local uphulstry shop and find matching cloth and recover the arm rests for the front & rear seats to match.

Photos will of course be posted. :)

I would leave them stock and not have them worked on. They look nice as is. :)

I know the sliders will need to be altered; that is no problem at all. :)

The arm rest cloth needs to be replaced as it is now dirty and has some of the velour has been damaged so it has smooth places; cloth matching it to the seats should look good.

Go to ebay, look up the seller Sprinter91801 and refine the search of the items he is selling with the word "seats". You will be able to see there are several for sale.
Here is a link to the listing:

One of the 2 seats arrived.
I guess they got seperated by FedEx in transit.
The passanger side seat was delivered on Saturday and the shipping label said "2 of 2" so the other seat did get shipped.

Here is a close-up of the seat cloth:

I used the ends of the seat rails from the seats in my parts car and bolted them to the new rails.
The new rails fit nicely when reusing the orrigional bolt-on ends. :)

They are comfortable to sit on, even for a fat guy like me! LOL

The new seats are narrower than the stock seats.
In order to make them fit, I had to take the ECU out of it's plastic box, cut the metal stand that the ECU's plastic box attaches to and mount the ECU flat to the floor.

After getting the sliders to fit using the ends from the stock seat's ends, I had to make cross braces out of angle iron so the seats could bolt onto something.
I also had to make an angle bracket for the seat blet latch to bolt onto so the seat belts still work.

Lots of work, but it's worh it to make the seats and seat belts fit and work properly. :)

I am going to try to fit the plastic rail cover from the stock seats over the new rails to cover them so they have a finished appearance.
