Installing Air Filter in 1.4 Lanos?

There are three main ones I have foud that are easily available.

Pipercross
Foam Filter.

Green
Cotton Filter.

Powertec

Comes with free cold air intake.

They're all made from different materials, is one of them by far superior than the other two?
Does anyone have experience with these?

I think those are all kind of high prices for intakes. You can get a cheap Chinese conical air filter on Ebay, and a 3 inch diameter steel or PVC pipe from your local tool store and make your own intake for just a few pounds as opposed to 100. We have low HP engines, so while the more expensive filters are probabally better, I doubt that you can notice any major difference in power between the cheap Chinese one and the expensive Italian one.

Even if it's a cheap one, will it be better than the standard airbox, and will it make the same noise?

I've just ordered one now.

What sort of piping will I need, and is there anyone that specialises in it, or will I need to go to a general store?

I like the idea of having it go through the airbox like you wanted and like Tim has.

for me i'd go for the PVC option... it is cheap and easy to construct.

only problem that i see is the different pipe sizes that i have to deal with... the filter port is 3", air box lower port is 2.5" and airbox upper port is 2.0" or 2.25" so i'll be getting lots of sizes and start fitting all the stuff together.

Ok, how would I actually fix the filter to the pipe, and the pipe to the engine, if I were to just replace the airbox.

I am not very good with cars unless I am 100% sure I know what I am doing, and I have the right parts.

the filter got a metal clamp that squeazes the rubber tip on the pipe so you just insert the 3" pipe into the filters port then tighten the clamp.

on the other end you can insert the pipe into the OEM rubber intake pipe and again tighten the clamp... OK the OEM pipe got ribs that makes restriction but this way you don't have the hussle of fitting the IAT sensor and crank case breather and all.

I understand what you are saying though and will try to find a suitable PVC 3" pipe. Any idea of length?

Have you got yours fitted yet?
