? about blow off valve.

Post by kroz123 »

This is maybe one of my most lame or stupid ? I ever asked.

I don't have a turbo but why do people with a turbo (ubuyau) put blow off valves on the intake tube.

Can I put one?
What will happen if I put one can I also get the whistling sound but not as loud when you change gears.
Will I hear it when I give the car gas?
Hope you guys understand what I mean.

blow off valves are not just for sound.. they are to release the pressure so it doesnt slow down the turbo causing damage.. or spin the wheel off

they are to prevent the impellor stopping due to boost backing up in the intake pipe when the throttle is shut quickly. Another setup i have seen is to put a second throttle body before the turbo, cutting the air to the turbo when the throttle shuts, doing the same thing as a blow off valve
