Major problems; no cel
I posted some info in a thread asking if my high powered stereo is causing problem but im pretty sure its unrelated. Currently I have no CEL, but one has come on time to time for the last 6 months. I've only had this problems maybe 3 months... but now its really bad.
I'd like to add.. i was having problems with my fuel pump turning on but this seams unrelated. Sometimes my power locks decide to stop working to, and it seam like a ground wire for those.
Anyways, I just started my car (barley) and it was very ruff starting.. then kept trying to die on me but finally started working. Sometimes my car starts to stall at 50mph cruising @ 2300-2400rpm and gets all jerky. Sometimes it starts to die when shifting gears making it very jerky. Sometimes it dies at stop lights or at least almost always starts to get a ruff idle... almost dies, then kicks the rpms up.. sometimes its okay after that but other times it'll continue to do it and I usualy give it gas cuz its kinda of embarrassing.
I recently got new spark wires about a month ago, but the problems been going on longer than that.
Any suggestions?
Danny

I'll check shortly.
I'm thinking its electrical now too though... the alarms acting really funny. I started my car earlyier and the alarm went off.. eventually stopped. The blue light for the alarm randomly comes on and when i put my alarm on it either doesnt work or just doesnt chirp.
Could a couple amp power wires running next to the alarm wire cause this?

it sounds like a lose ground some where... this got nothing to do with sensors.
TPS will cause the car to idle at 1500 or higher all the time... on some cars it will go back and forth between 1000 and 2000 RPM.
MAP will cause the car to jerk at low rpm all the time + CEL
IAT will throw a CEL with no performance problems.
check all your wiring + grounding points, it is clear that the problem affects other electrical devices that are non related to the engine.

no it will not... faulty TPS will force the ECU to a fail safe mode wgich makes the car idle higher than usual, i have been through 2 faulty TPS's so far so i am talking out of experiance.Slammed wrote:Yes but the TPS will stall the car when you stop at lights and or lower the revs while driving

I've looked through all my wires.
The only problem I see is the amp power wires running against the alarm wire... but that may not even be a problem.
I have my sub amp wire running the same place my old subs ran.. only this one is twice the wattage plus I have another amp (wire runs on other side of car). Both amp wires go through the firewall with the alarms siren wire.
I did do a "wiggle" test while the car was running; the car had rough idle/almost stalled once during the wiggle test and it was when I was wiggling one of the fuel injectors.. although I couldnt get it to do it again.

Well all the times that my TPS came unpluged during hard starts in first gear (racing) when I made it to a stop light or sign it would stall out and when I restarted it would stall out it would never stay running unless I reved it up and kept it running
I am notsaying your wrong but this is what happed to me

why does your TPS socket come off?? is the fastning plastic clip broken or something?... also maybe the symptoms are different for a "bad TPS" and "unplugged TPS"... maybe i will unplug mine while the engine is running and see what happens.
