Removing resonator
Moderators: daewoomofo, Moderators Group
I just took mine out not 5 minutes ago, really the only tricky part was the one bolt they were talking about... but it still only took like 5 mins... I pulled out everything that had to do with the resinator, including the little woven thing that went into the body work... I didn't know where the car pulled it's air from... now i know =P
a woo that is a work in progress
I've got it off!
Now i just need to re-read the guide to see if I need the Y tube thing connected or not.

No.. You don't need the Y tube connected. It may have some effect on the noise and definately will add to the restriction to your air intake. If I were you, I would leave it off.norbie wrote:I've got it off!

Of course it's entirely up to you. I know Mmamdouh didn't like the sound as much with the Y tube off.
I've left it on for now, I've figured I will probably buy one of these:

That will improve the car a lot, yes?

This seems quite a good deal:

It's a better filter than cotton apparently, and it comes with a "cold air feed", is that easy to setup in a Lanos?

Also, if a car is intaking air faster, does that mean it will use up petrol faster?

No, if you remove resistance from the intake, the car "should" use less gas because there is less friction against the natural sucking of the engine. I say "should" because generally when you get an intake, you're stomping the throttle more often.norbie wrote:Also, if a car is intaking air faster, does that mean it will use up petrol faster?
Haha I know what you mean , thanksBosnianLanos wrote:No, if you remove resistance from the intake, the car "should" use less gas because there is less friction against the natural sucking of the engine. actually it depends on your driving style... if you cruse arround then you will notice better fuel economy as Bosnian said but if you drive like crazy then you will feell the car is faster and "faster" always comes with a price... it is more fuel.BosnianLanos wrote:No, if you remove resistance from the intake, the car "should" use less gas because there is less friction against the natural sucking of the engine. i got this answer when i asked the splitfire guys about getting better performance AND better fuel economy, he said you will get one of those depending on your driving style.
