New intake!

Post by cpd »

Yay!

Here's the parts out of the box...

And my engine bay before putting it in...

And after... note the DODGY job connecting the pipe to throttle body. I didn't realise that my TB was 2", and the blue rubber thing was 2.5", so I cut up the original thing... I may live to regret this. Anyone got a spare one? Just for when I sell it.

Sounds heaps louder when sucking in air... Gonna see how she goes.

So far don't know; I just put it on as it started to rain.

I'll test it out on the way to work tomorrow; in all honesty I expect no gains, just a more "braaaaap"y kinda sound. :)

I mean cmon, it's a 58kw engine with 194,000kms on it. :P

I imagine it'd accelerate quicker (and make more noise) thru 2.5-4.5k rpm.

Im interested to know the characteristics of using the large 3" pipe with a 2" throttle body. With resonance in the pipe, and since the engine must suck thru the capacity of tube to get air - i wonder if you'll feel a small burst around 2-2.5k rpm or so?

As you can see in the last image, I haven't gotten the air intake sensor hooked into the pipe yet, but I'll do that tomorrow afternoon, and then reset my ECU and do an idle learning cycle.
