Cam Position Sensor

My cps is also bad. My car is at my mechanic and he is changing it for me. I looked at it and it is right behind the cam gears. I tried to change it my self but i couldnt reach one of the bolts without taking off the gears. So adjusting the time is out of my range of repairs. You could do it without taking offf the gears but you dont want to drop any of the parts down behind the timing cover!!!

well my timing cover is off so now worries there.

any of the more experienced people know if you can get to it by removing the valve cover?

Ummm.. On my leganza, once the top plate(?) above the valve cover is off, and the timing cover, you have access to it. You just need the correct tool for the screw used keeping it in.

But i dont believe valve cover removal is necessary.

I thought this was strange too, ever since I got it scanned last friday when I start up the engine after it has been sitting all night there is no cel, but as soon as the temp gets to where it normally sits(a little below the halfway line) it triggers the cel.

So does anybody know yet what all needs to be done to replace the CPS on a Lanos? I need to take my car to the dealer to get the recall done and figured I'd see if they'd give me a deal on putting the belt kit on if they had to get in there for the recall anyway.

never done it before but basicly it will require removal of the timing belt cover... not sure if their are any other parts that comes into your way during this job but ithink it is fairly easy to do.
