Has anyone got back to back dyno numbers that show a power gain or is just a noise gain? Part of the resonators job is to make it quieter for suer. But, a resonator will also help fill in the torque curve if properly designed. #'s anyone?MMamdouh wrote:when you remove something that RESTRICTS air it will make the engine better
the resonator is just making the engine sounds quiter by restricting the air a bit---> you lose power
remove the resonator you will get more power and sound
it is just like removing the CAT... you remove parts that restrict air flow into and out from the engine to keep it breathing freely.

How many of you have removed your intake resonator?

the gains are real... no dyno proof but i can tell when my car is faster, you are right about the torque thing... the resonator ands CAT rermoval might affect your torque but it will add to your HP so you are adding to top end on the expense of low end.
deciding if this is a helpful mod or not depends on how you drive, i rev the engine hard so better breathing is a must.

Actual data figures would be good to see. I can tell you from my own experience removing the res made the performance worse at the low end RPM but I do drive mostly in city traffic. To be honest, even at the top end I didn't really notice that much gain to warrant its removal so I put it back.Woowagon wrote:Has anyone got back to back dyno numbers that show a power gain or is just a noise gain? physics tells you that it would give you a gain...
there is a pressure drop across your entire intake (that is to say a slight "vacuum"). the less volume you can make the system, the better the flow in general. if you remove the intake resonator, which is nothing more than a huge box, you are pulling a very harge restriction out of the system.

I tweak Motors too, and even before I discovered 'Wootech, I stripped it out.
100% sure you will notice it works better.
Like Audacity says, the vacuum is formed by something, and that "something" is energy used to draw air into the Block.
Think of it this way... a turbo uses surplus energy to force air into the Cylinders..... and look at that for increase...........
As with all tuning...... every little bit counts when you add it all up. Want more!!!... eliminate the energy sapping parts!!

Are there other energy sapping parts I should know about too?RichieOzzie wrote:I tweak Motors too, and even before I discovered 'Wootech, I stripped it out.

the CAT but depending on where are you living this could be illegal.

By CAT, do you mean Catalytic converter? I checked... CAT isn't listed on your list so...MMamdouh wrote:the CAT but depending on where are you living this could be illegal.

C Celsius
C/L Closed Loop
C3 GM ECM using Motorola 68xx-like processor (1+ MHz CPU)
CCP Controlled Canister Purge
CEL Check engine light (see MIL, SES)
CID Cubic Inch Displacement
CKP crankshaft position sensor
CMP camshaft position sensor
CP Canister Purge
CPU Central Processor Unit (the brains in the ecm)
CTS Coolant Temp Sensor
Yeah... Hmmm... I know that it's illegal to have no catalytic converter here in Michigan, but I think there is a special FlowMaster one I could get if I want to help my engine breath better. I will most likely change that out when I upgrade the rest of my exhaust.

Ok, I'll be getting THIS: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 4617142504
For those of you who ignored my post.
So my intake resonator will be removed.
Currently is http://www.users.on.net/~hoogs/daewoo/03.jpg , so that'll give you an idea of the restriction I'll be removing.
Paying for it on Wednesday, so I'll let you know how it goes.
