Loose Gear Stick

Post by lukea37 »

Hi everyone,

My gear stick is extremely sloppy. When it is in gear it has alot of side-to-side movement. I realise there are some bushes available to solve the problem however my local Daewoo representative can't get hold of the part and I am not getting a response from Intimidator.

What has everyone else done to solve the problem?

Thanks,
Luke

After closer inspection, the play in the gear stick seems to come from the engine side of the firewall and not within the actual gear stick.

it's the bushings in the 2ndsary level mechanism. i've sent a pm to a member show made a set of metal bushings for his aveo... once we find out the size it should be easy for us to get some for everyone

Yes I have read over your post and it seems I am having the same problem as you. Some more info on the metal busings sounds great.

the response from brian is as follows...
I picked them up at the hardware. I did that last year. I used a bronze sleave bearing. If I get time I will see if I can find them, I might have to wait till it gets warmer to pull the assy off my car to check for wear.
