Sway bar link removel ??. Lowering Spring Install(with pics)

Post by Adam454ss »

According to my CD manual (Nubira) for my car I just have to remove the upper and lower nuts in order to remove the link. The nut is not coming off but bolt/nut assembly is turning. Do I need the cutting torch in order to remove them now and purchase new links and nuts?? I am pretty sure I have too but would like some input. (Knowing my fellow Daewoo enthusiests I will get sarcasm as well as help :D )
Thanks for both! ;)

Have two new links coming, also sheared two strut mounting bolts. One on either side of lowest mounting point on the front struts. Those bolts are really hard to find!! They are 12mm x 1.25 thread pitch x 60mm length. BUT I'M HAVING LOTS OF FUN PUTTING MY LOWERING SPRINGS ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey mate. To remove the links you need to have a spanner/socket on each end while you turn one of them. :)

I picked up my new sway bar links and new nuts. Here are a couple of pictures of my progress so far.
By the way I can't stress enough for the autoworkers who assemble the car to put anti-seeze on the bolts!!!!!!!

You can see the sway bar link that I had to cut in order to remove the strut. I will completely remove them tomarrow when I have time. The new struts will be here in 3 to 7 days. It was free shipping and I am thrifty and/or cheap!:)

Received 3 of my 4 struts today. The driver's front is on Back Order until April so stock strut had to go back on for the time being. I wll tackle the rear tomarrow. The car is on jack stands, tires are off and nuts and bolts sprayed with penetrating spray (liberally). Letting it soak in overnight. Should have both new rear struts and lowering springs on tomarrow.
Here are a couple of pics of the front end new strut and lowering spring. Still taking more pics. tomarrow
