Dammit!
If your Daewoo has over 80,000 miles and you did the heads, valve job, timming belt, etc....
Do yourself a favor and replace the starter motor too!
When I was putting everything back together it crossed my mind! I was thinking what a bitch to install one!
Now it randomly engages

That sucks Eddie... I've been planning a Timing Belt change... but heads, valve job too? I don't remember people telling me I should do those at the same time as well.Edman wrote:If your Daewoo has over 80,000 miles and you did the heads, valve job, timming belt, etc....

Yeesh.
This was my friends old car. I got it dirt cheap! He's timming belt went and bent all the exhaust valves, plus some intake! I said screw it, I took everything apart and had them all replaced!
The starter was looking at me! Being cheap, I said screw it! So if your that deep in your motor and you have high miles on the odometer, just do it!!!!!!!! Ok, I know some starters last forever, but this thing is a bitch to replace!

Speaking of starters, mine was buggered after my whole hydrolock incident and the whole starter was corroded and made a hideous noise at startup, but nevertheless it worked. Tonight, it went again for good. That'll be a nice 5 hour job for next weekend, along with a timing belt, water pump, fuel injector, and brake shoes change.
BosianLanos,
I hope you don't think replacing those parts, will make replacing your starter easier. I'm first going to try removing the airhose assy and alernator, then contort my arm slowly!
The more direct way would be to remove the intake manifold, but even that is a pain in the ass! You'll also need a new intake gasket for re-assembly. But removing the starter will be easy!
Anyone have other ideas? Other than stuffing small children with tools under my car!

This won't be my first time changing my starter, I'm well versed with this engine, and I know how to get to things and where things go. My Lanos has 200,000 miles and it is just time for those things as preventative maintenance, so I might as well do it at the same time as I'm doing the starter, to get the whole job done in one chunk.Edman wrote:BosianLanos,
